Cuppa Tea & Time to Type.

Well, hello there my fine feathered friends.

It’s been a while huh?

So, let me catch you up. I’m gonna do it like an episode of an American TV show…

PREVIOUSLY ON TALKTOKATE:

  • Myself and my partner broke up.
  • I have moved house twice.
  • I have moved job twice.
  • I have been in very, very low places.
  • I have drunk a lot of tea.
  • I have met a lot of new people.
  • I have been on many adventures.
  • I have been hurt.
  • I have healed.
  • Most of all… I am okay!

So, firstly; me and my partner broke up. Not for any bad reason, nothing happened other than we stopped loving each other the way you should. We became best friends by the end of it and it wasn’t fair on either of us to keep pushing it. We still talk though, we aren’t gonna waste almost 3 years of bonding. We are both happy, and going strong as individuals. He’s pretty cool, and I think I probably am too.

Secondly, GUYS I’VE MOVED HOUSE AND JOBS TWICE. Everything is all over the place! I am not happy in most jobs no matter how hard I try, and I think that is mainly because I’m not helping people (I’ll link ya to ‘Why I Am Never Happy‘!)and I have also moved house twice! Moving is exhausting by the way. In the space of three months I had to pack and unpack all of my belongings twice and make two different places something resembling a home. This is hard by the way. Super hard. (I’ll link ya to ‘Where’s Ya Home At’ soon). But do not fear guys! I have tea and biscuits at hand and I live with absolutely incredible people. It’s only a temporary solution whilst I get myself back on my feet, but these people are so cool for letting me have their spare room during that rollercoaster.

OKAY! So the fun bit! I HAVE BEEN HAVING SO MUCH FUN! I haven’t done any crazy travelling, I don’t really have any crazy stories but what I do have is two new sisters whom I adore. Many new friends and additions to my made up family and exciting new memories that I will cherish forever! (I’ll link ya to ‘My Hand Picked Family’ soon) I have been on midnight picnics, zoo adventures, beach adventures, drinking adventures, work adventures, family adventures… all the adventures, much too many to say! So I’ll post some pictures with this ramble at the bottom so you can take a little look see!

Now the not so fun bit, I haven’t written in  a long time because I have been far too sad. I have hated myself for silly reasons, and I have been a risk to myself too. I get scared to say what I was really feeling, and where my head has been these past few months because I never want to get there again. I had to stop writing because sharing something I didn’t understand myself seemed damn near impossible, but recently I’ve had loads to say and show and so here I am. The past few months have been very emotionally taxing and in all honesty I didn’t know how I was going to make it through it. But I counted to ten and I started again. I have learnt so many new ways of coping with stress, anger, sadness, anxiety, fear, and goodness knows what other emotions have been floating around in that old noggin of mine. Thanks to some fantastic people and my own perseverance I think I’ll be okay. Naaaaah I’m jesting…. I know I’ll be okay.

I hope you wanna read still! Cos I’ve got a lot to write.

Why I Am Never Happy

Well, c’mon guys. It’s crazy to say I’m never happy, but I am fairly certain I could be happier.

So, my theory is that I’m not happy simply because I’m not helping others as much as I could. Sure I do my fair share of simple good deeds and sure I will always try my best to help others out, but there is so much more I can do to help!

So (I know you’ll be surprised about this) HERE IS A LIST!:

Things I wanna do to help:

  • Remind my friends daily that they are beautiful.
  • Hang out with some of the elderly- let’s get chatting!
  • Buy strangers more coffee.
  • Send more flowers to strangers.
  • Leave cool notes at resteraunts.
  • Tell bad jokes to customers so they laugh out of pity. (this one is for me really.)
  • Encourage friends and family to go further in their lives.
  • Drink more tea. (how can this NOT make me happy?!)

Well honestly I thought I’d have a bigger list. Fancy helping me out chums? What do you do to make someones day? Or what has someone done for you that has made your day? Please let me know!

Anyway, I need a career where I get to care for others. I need to accomplish my life goal of making the world a better place one person at a time. It’s like Ann Frank always says “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

SO LETS GET TO IT.

To make everyone happy will make me happy too! Smiles ahoy!

(PS- I’m new to Snapchat and I think it’s hilarious.)

Where there’s a will there’s a way.

I tell myself a lot of the time that as long as I try my hardest and push myself as much as I can I’ll be able to do anything, but at times if I fail I put myself down quite a bit. So as I walk to work today I’ll listen to motivating music.

Music that makes me take big strides and bop my head like a bobble head on a car dash board. Music that makes me walk with a bounce and tap my fingers. Music that makes me mime along on paths where no one can see, music that reminds me that if I give up I’ll regret it.

Today I’ll get dressed in my favourite jeans, my favourite blue vans, and my favourite yellow jumper and I WILL TAKE ON THE DAY. I will wake up with a groggy smile, I will brush my teeth with a minty smile, I will drink my tea with a big gulp and I WILL TAKE ON THE DAY.

Remember; You’ll fail 100% of shots never taken. So take them.

MORE NEWS TO COME!

What makes you feel determined my internet chums?

Why I Love Working In Retail: The Sarcastic Edition.

As you already know retail is currently how I make my living. Selling products to lovely customers from a lovely company with lovely people. But t isn’t always lovely. Here are a few reasons I love working in retail…

1. Customers are sometimes really helpful- they like to give you more work to do by throwing stock on the ground, at you or otherwise hiding it in strange places so that you have more things to do in your already busy day.

2. You get paid an alright wage- living on minimum wage is easy if you don’t want to eat meat for a little while. And who needs to pay rent anyway?

3. Customers really appreciate the service you’re giving them- by calling you uneducated, demanding they get discount, simply being verbally abusive, and never saying “Thank You” really makes me smile at the end of the day.

4. Sometimes the company even shows appreciation for your hard work- They’ll even phone you when you aren’t reaching target because of something that is completely out of your hands and let you know that you are a terrible human being, and lucky for us… They don’t call when you’re doing well through fantastic selling skills.

5. Customers appreciate that pricing systems are out of our control- They’ll even happily take the product for the lower price after all of their shouting and abuse while also telling us we are terrible human beings.

6. You get the odd electrician or plumber that doesn’t mind having a nice pleasant chat during their work- They don’t even mind swearing on shop floor, being out right ride to customers and making creepy sexual comments. All in all, they know how to make a member of staff feel comfortable.

7. Customers never expect anything for free- “oh sorry the barcode isn’t scanning” “does that mean I get it for free?” “Why yes it does! Take it! Take it all! The company didn’t want your money anyway! Oh and here is the key to the safe too.”

8. Parents like to make sure that ther children are behaving for us- sometimes they’ll even let them run around with a £1000 scanner and swing off the fixtures. Nothing like a bit of health and safety!

9. Delivery Drivers are sometimes super helpful and polite- If you’re lucky they’ll help you practice your netball skills and throw the stock off the back of the lorry for you to catch. They will also charmingly- so swear at you because your 5″1tiny weak child like body can’t carry 20 huge boxes at a time. They encourage you to be your best.

10. Last (but by far the final) the company love to make sure that you’re happy with your working environment- They make sure that you can’t get that one song out of your head, you know the one that goes “Dun dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun dun dun,” The Ellie Goulding one? They make sure that your work is imprinted into your dreams so much so that you start dreaming of normal work tasks thinking your awake. This just means that you get to work all the time so you can always sort out issues even on your day off!

Although I’m moaning I do enjoy my job, and at the end of the day I generally go home with a smile because I work with some great people. I can prove it! Go check out The nice reasons of why I love working in retail. It’s thrilling!

Of course that doesn’t mean to say that I like the customers.

So do you have any lovely stories about lovely places and lovely companies? What’s your favourite story about a customer?

Why I Love Working In Retail: The Nice Edition.

So I have worked in retail for a while now, and I have to say like every other job there are moments I hate it as much as there are moments I love it. So here is a quick list of the moments that make me smile.

1. Sometimes customers can be absolutely amazing. They’ll laugh at your rubbish jokes, compliment your customer service skills and even be polite!

2. You get to tell children off and scare them. I don’t know why I love this…it’s just funny.

3. You get to meet and talk to a lot of new people all the time. There is someone new to learn about.

4. Some customers talk to you about their problems- and maybe sometimes you help?

5. The people I work with complete my day. We can laugh and joke and dance to the repetitive music that plays in store, and accidentally get caught by a customer.

6. Tea break. Do I need to elaborate or are you okay with just guessing this one?

7. Learning about new stock is actually quite fun too- getting all the latest info and being the first to see new stock is quite exciting.

8. Delivery drivers can start to become pals- I’m guessing driving up and down the country can get pretty boring for them, so I’m happy to have a nice chat with them.

9. Sometimes customers go out of their way to say “Thank you.” Recently we have had a customer that gave us a card just to say thanks for the hard work we did to sort out an issue for her.

10. And the final part- also being my favourite is that at the end of the day you get to close the store and look at how well you’ve done for the day. Makes you feel proud. This is also, coincidentally the same time you get to go home!

So there we go! Not every day is bad, not every customer is bad either. But how about you? Have you guys had any wonderful experiences with customers or even your work mates? Let me know! I love hearing these sorts of stories!

Don’t forget to check out the other reasons for my love of retail!

Show ’em What You Got!

So Here goes. My latest rant. The latest thing to annoy me.

I recently read a really stupid post about why women with big boobs are the best girlfriends and there was a silly one about how easy it is to get plastic surgery meaning ‘no excuse for small boobs” which bloody annoyed me. The only thing that has stopped me going completely mental is the fact that it honestly was a very stupid post that was only made to get views and laughs. But it opens so many doors as I thought about it.

Why on earth do people expect others to change themselves in any way for them. The only person you should ever change for is yourself and as I have said previously you are the one that will have to live with you for the rest of your life so don’t worry what others think.

Now, I know its easier said than done but it is so important to love yourself and to really be comfortable in your own skin. Basically I feel a bit of an idiot because as I’m writing this I’m thinking- well only an hour ago I was shunning away compliments from a friend because (and I quote) “Haha that’s silly”. Why should that be my first reaction to a compliment? Why shouldn’t I agree? Why should I put myself down?

Well firstly I have no idea what to say to a compliment, and secondly I genuinely disagreed with them. This is not a “fishing for compliments” etc thing. This is my start to loving myself.

As you can see I have put a picture of myself with the part of me I like the least. That being my smile and my breasts. So I am going to start something new. Each day I will pick at least two things that I am happy with about myself. Rather than pointing out everything that I think is a flaw I will say “Today I love myself because…”. This might sound stupid, or cheesy but honestly I could not care less. At the end of the day my happiness is as important as any one else’s.

How you feel about yourself will shine through so if you feel negative- people will be able to tell (sub-consciously) and they will react accordingly.    Always try your best to walk tall (I can walk as tall as 5″1- but i’ll keep trying!) and always try your best to just love yourself. I’m not saying have a sudden turn around from “jeez I hate myself today” to “Wow, I think i’m amazing in every way.” But you should certainly give it a go.

Today I love myself because my eyes smile too…

What do you love yourself for today?
