Why I Am Never Happy

Well, c’mon guys. It’s crazy to say I’m never happy, but I am fairly certain I could be happier.

So, my theory is that I’m not happy simply because I’m not helping others as much as I could. Sure I do my fair share of simple good deeds and sure I will always try my best to help others out, but there is so much more I can do to help!

So (I know you’ll be surprised about this) HERE IS A LIST!:

Things I wanna do to help:

  • Remind my friends daily that they are beautiful.
  • Hang out with some of the elderly- let’s get chatting!
  • Buy strangers more coffee.
  • Send more flowers to strangers.
  • Leave cool notes at resteraunts.
  • Tell bad jokes to customers so they laugh out of pity. (this one is for me really.)
  • Encourage friends and family to go further in their lives.
  • Drink more tea. (how can this NOT make me happy?!)

Well honestly I thought I’d have a bigger list. Fancy helping me out chums? What do you do to make someones day? Or what has someone done for you that has made your day? Please let me know!

Anyway, I need a career where I get to care for others. I need to accomplish my life goal of making the world a better place one person at a time. It’s like Ann Frank always says “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

SO LETS GET TO IT.

To make everyone happy will make me happy too! Smiles ahoy!

(PS- I’m new to Snapchat and I think it’s hilarious.)

Where there’s a will there’s a way.

I tell myself a lot of the time that as long as I try my hardest and push myself as much as I can I’ll be able to do anything, but at times if I fail I put myself down quite a bit. So as I walk to work today I’ll listen to motivating music.

Music that makes me take big strides and bop my head like a bobble head on a car dash board. Music that makes me walk with a bounce and tap my fingers. Music that makes me mime along on paths where no one can see, music that reminds me that if I give up I’ll regret it.

Today I’ll get dressed in my favourite jeans, my favourite blue vans, and my favourite yellow jumper and I WILL TAKE ON THE DAY. I will wake up with a groggy smile, I will brush my teeth with a minty smile, I will drink my tea with a big gulp and I WILL TAKE ON THE DAY.

Remember; You’ll fail 100% of shots never taken. So take them.

MORE NEWS TO COME!

What makes you feel determined my internet chums?

Why I Love Working In Retail: The Sarcastic Edition.

As you already know retail is currently how I make my living. Selling products to lovely customers from a lovely company with lovely people. But t isn’t always lovely. Here are a few reasons I love working in retail…

1. Customers are sometimes really helpful- they like to give you more work to do by throwing stock on the ground, at you or otherwise hiding it in strange places so that you have more things to do in your already busy day.

2. You get paid an alright wage- living on minimum wage is easy if you don’t want to eat meat for a little while. And who needs to pay rent anyway?

3. Customers really appreciate the service you’re giving them- by calling you uneducated, demanding they get discount, simply being verbally abusive, and never saying “Thank You” really makes me smile at the end of the day.

4. Sometimes the company even shows appreciation for your hard work- They’ll even phone you when you aren’t reaching target because of something that is completely out of your hands and let you know that you are a terrible human being, and lucky for us… They don’t call when you’re doing well through fantastic selling skills.

5. Customers appreciate that pricing systems are out of our control- They’ll even happily take the product for the lower price after all of their shouting and abuse while also telling us we are terrible human beings.

6. You get the odd electrician or plumber that doesn’t mind having a nice pleasant chat during their work- They don’t even mind swearing on shop floor, being out right ride to customers and making creepy sexual comments. All in all, they know how to make a member of staff feel comfortable.

7. Customers never expect anything for free- “oh sorry the barcode isn’t scanning” “does that mean I get it for free?” “Why yes it does! Take it! Take it all! The company didn’t want your money anyway! Oh and here is the key to the safe too.”

8. Parents like to make sure that ther children are behaving for us- sometimes they’ll even let them run around with a £1000 scanner and swing off the fixtures. Nothing like a bit of health and safety!

9. Delivery Drivers are sometimes super helpful and polite- If you’re lucky they’ll help you practice your netball skills and throw the stock off the back of the lorry for you to catch. They will also charmingly- so swear at you because your 5″1tiny weak child like body can’t carry 20 huge boxes at a time. They encourage you to be your best.

10. Last (but by far the final) the company love to make sure that you’re happy with your working environment- They make sure that you can’t get that one song out of your head, you know the one that goes “Dun dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun dun dun,” The Ellie Goulding one? They make sure that your work is imprinted into your dreams so much so that you start dreaming of normal work tasks thinking your awake. This just means that you get to work all the time so you can always sort out issues even on your day off!

Although I’m moaning I do enjoy my job, and at the end of the day I generally go home with a smile because I work with some great people. I can prove it! Go check out The nice reasons of why I love working in retail. It’s thrilling!

Of course that doesn’t mean to say that I like the customers.

So do you have any lovely stories about lovely places and lovely companies? What’s your favourite story about a customer?

Why I Love Working In Retail: The Nice Edition.

So I have worked in retail for a while now, and I have to say like every other job there are moments I hate it as much as there are moments I love it. So here is a quick list of the moments that make me smile.

1. Sometimes customers can be absolutely amazing. They’ll laugh at your rubbish jokes, compliment your customer service skills and even be polite!

2. You get to tell children off and scare them. I don’t know why I love this…it’s just funny.

3. You get to meet and talk to a lot of new people all the time. There is someone new to learn about.

4. Some customers talk to you about their problems- and maybe sometimes you help?

5. The people I work with complete my day. We can laugh and joke and dance to the repetitive music that plays in store, and accidentally get caught by a customer.

6. Tea break. Do I need to elaborate or are you okay with just guessing this one?

7. Learning about new stock is actually quite fun too- getting all the latest info and being the first to see new stock is quite exciting.

8. Delivery drivers can start to become pals- I’m guessing driving up and down the country can get pretty boring for them, so I’m happy to have a nice chat with them.

9. Sometimes customers go out of their way to say “Thank you.” Recently we have had a customer that gave us a card just to say thanks for the hard work we did to sort out an issue for her.

10. And the final part- also being my favourite is that at the end of the day you get to close the store and look at how well you’ve done for the day. Makes you feel proud. This is also, coincidentally the same time you get to go home!

So there we go! Not every day is bad, not every customer is bad either. But how about you? Have you guys had any wonderful experiences with customers or even your work mates? Let me know! I love hearing these sorts of stories!

Don’t forget to check out the other reasons for my love of retail!

Time To Feel Sexy

So this morning I woke up and looked at myself as I prepared to go for a run. I thought I am not happy with the way I look. Not in a “oh god I’m so horrible I hate myself I’m going to go cry over my cup of tea this morning” kind of way. Just a simple “This is how I want to look” kind of way. So I have decided to take up a dancing class.

1- because I can’t dance for my life and it will be hilarious to watch me try. (Maybe I’ll post videos so you can all laugh at me. Honestly I don’t mind if you do. I would. I will.)

2- because I want to gain a skill. (going back to number 1…honestly…it’ll be great if i can.)

3- (the most important.) I want to feel good about myself and I honestly think that doing pole fitness will be the one to help make that happen.

Pole fitness is a great workout in many ways. It works out every muscle and helps strengthen them so they actually become strong rather than just toning to look good (though I hope that happens too.) It’s also a fairly low impact one so it won’t be bad for my knees (call the 1940’s they let me loose in the future. Such an old woman.)

Anyway if you guys have’t seen how amazing pole fitness looks just go onto Youtube. Seriously there are some mega talented people out there- one girl is only like 8 years old and she is basically my idol now. She did some amazing things on the pole and I can bet your bum that she is stronger than me too. I hope to be as good as the little gal one day!

So I have now set myself a task to do this to see if doing something like pole fitness or general dance classes can help you feel more positive about yourself.

Will update you when I take first lessons and such.

What talents do you guys wish you had? Let me know! Let’s see if we can share some secret tips!

Must dash! My tea is getting cold!

Celebrating

Recently celebrated mine and my partners anniversary and just wanted to share the adventures we’ve done over this weekend!

We went to over to Exmouth on a Ferry that had a super cute old dog that just walked around in circles waiting for people to stroke him. When we got there we went to a really small (pretty crappy) bowling alley and had a bit of fun (we drew) before heading off to a pub.

We had a drink or two then thought…hey we are pretty hungry and went to find a nice place to eat. We ended up eating at a lovely little place that had fantastic pizza and a lot of Italian speaking people which was pretty cool, after which we thought it would be a great idea to do a bit of tipsy sawn boat driving. (i definitely was the best…well after the crashing.)

We also went to the Zoo! Now, I bloody love the zoo and the Paignton Zoo is one of the leaders in how they take care of the animals etc which is really good too!

One thing that made me giggle (because i’m a grown up.) Is they all kept doing the dirty! They were all very…”active”! Was pretty funny! Anyway. I’ll stop boring you and here are some pictures that aren’t very exciting but I just wanted to share them!

I’m Addicted To Learning.

I’m not sure if this is actually a huge issue. But I can get a bit too into subjects. And they aren’t always helpful to general life, they just take over my life until I know enough to talk about it.

I think it started when I had my first job (folding towels and selling curtains because I’m hardcore) Basically I couldn’t fold towels in the perfect way they are meant to to be and it upset me (I get very frustrated at thingsI can’t do) So on the last day of my first week I spent the best part of the day just folding towels until i got to the point of being able to do it stood up and really quickly. Accomplishment! (not much to some I guess- but now my towels look nice folded)

I carried on this sort of behaviour in most of my jobs even up until now and this has meant that in one of my jobs I became one of top sellers in the company (only because of a couple of crazy rich people!) and why I have also become a member of management in every job I have had since I was 18. I do not like not knowing things. So I make sure I know everything I can.

At first I used to get frustrated and even embarrassed  that I didn’t know how to do everything straight away, but then I realised that actually I am becoming quicker at learning and quicker at understanding the more I put my mind to the learning of whatever it it I want to know!

So, not only am I currently managing to blag being knowledgeable in my current job, I have even been told my my manager, my area manager, and other members of management from other stores that I am already fantastic! It’s this reaction I love. The reaction of shock that I am doing so well.

I don’t mean this in a “HA! I’m doing so well, praise me” way. I just mean it in a “I’m pretty darned shocked too!” kind of way!

But anyway, I am addicted to learning because I like feeling like I’ve accomplished something. But i seem to only learn things about facts and general knowledge. Obviously that’s not a bad thins but I feel like I could learn a lot more!

So again I call on you lovely people; What can I learn next? And what do you guys want to learn? Shall we get this done together?

I need to learn how to swim and at least one language. So what can I do guys? Let’s learn together!
